Announcements at //build will fundamentally change lives

This past week, Microsoft hosted the //build conference in San Francisco. Some news outlets call it the biggest Microsoft event of the year. It truly is an outstanding event and this year it was full of announcements that will empower people and organizations to not only achieve more but to change the world.

“The Technology we talked about today, fundamentally is going to change the lives of people and that’s what build is all about”.  by Satya Nadella at //build 2016

I’ve highlighted 3 of the feature announcements that should be easy to implement but have the impact to blow the minds of your customers. The last one I listed focuses on you and myself to get our hands into technology and start innovating.

No more excuses for not making cross-platform apps!

Just a few weeks ago a close friend asked me if I can get a discount on the Xamarin licenses because he read that Microsoft bought the company. This week after the big announcement, it was a great pleasure to call him and tell him that he now has free access through his current MSDN benefits. In case you’re wondering what Xamarin does, it allows you to deliver native Android, iOS, and Windows apps, using your existing skills and code. If you want to learn more about the announcement click here and for more information about MSDN here.

Stunning , interactive data visualiztaion in your app thanks to PowerBI Embedded

PowerBI embedded is a service within Azure. It allows you to leverage the stunning, interactive data visualization functionality of PowerBI to delivery insights from within your application that customers demand. To learn more about Power BI embedded click here. Scott Hanselmann has invited Sr. Program Manager Josh Caplan to his Azure Friday show under the title: “Azure Friday: Supercharge your apps with Power BI embedded” they give you a nice introduction to this new feature.

Create an App that blows the mind of your customers!

Bots has been showing up all over Tech News and Blogs and has been called the next big thing after apps. It allows you to build and connect intelligent bots to interact with your users naturally wherever they are, from text/sms to Skype, Slack, Office 365 mail and other popular services.

There is no sentence that I could write that tells the capability of the bots better than this video (absolute must watch)! And here is more information about the Bot Framework.

Start innovating now, it has never been that easy!

I’m sure you’ve heard of Raspberry Pi before and you might have even already ordered one. I’ve been holding back because I wasn’t sure which accessories I would need to really make some fun, small things with it. But now, there is a solution to that and it’s called “Azure IoT Starter Kits” and can be ordered here.

With these new starter kits, I no longer have an excuse and can now start my own innovations with IoT. I’m curious to see what amazing things the world will do with this technology.

If you leverage any of these features in the future, it would be great to hear back from you and see what you have done with it.
